From November 11th to 13th, 2024, the city of Elche became an international hub for neuroscience and emerging technologies during the second edition of The Brain and The Chip Conference. Hosted at Miguel Hernández University (UMH), the event brought together researchers, clinicians, engineers, students, and industry representatives from around the world to discuss the latest breakthroughs in neurotechnology and brain-machine interaction.
Over the course of three inspiring days, the conference welcomed more than 150 attendees and featured over 35 scientific talks delivered by internationally recognized experts in areas such as neuroprosthetics, brain-computer interfaces (BCI), artificial vision, neural engineering, artificial intelligence, and translational neuroscience.
The scientific program covered a wide range of cutting-edge topics, including advances in cortical visual prostheses, neural decoding, neurostimulation technologies, AI-assisted neural systems, and innovative approaches for restoring sensory and motor functions. Speakers presented groundbreaking research aimed at improving the quality of life of people with blindness, paralysis, and other neurological conditions, highlighting the growing impact of neuroengineering in modern medicine and rehabilitation.
One of the defining aspects of this year’s edition was its highly interdisciplinary nature. Researchers from neuroscience, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, biomedical engineering, robotics, computer science, and artificial intelligence shared ideas and experiences in a collaborative environment designed to encourage innovation and scientific exchange. This diversity of perspectives generated stimulating discussions about both the scientific and ethical challenges associated with the future of neurotechnology.

Beyond the scientific sessions, The Brain and The Chip 2024 also served as a valuable networking platform, fostering new collaborations between universities, hospitals, research centers, and technology companies. The enthusiastic response from participants confirmed the importance of creating spaces where academia, healthcare, and industry can work together to translate scientific discoveries into real-world solutions.
The conference further reinforced the growing international relevance of The Brain and The Chip as a leading forum in the field of neuroengineering and neural interfaces. Following the success of the first edition in 2022, the 2024 congress demonstrated the increasing global interest in technologies capable of connecting the human brain with advanced electronic systems.
We are deeply grateful to all speakers, attendees, collaborators, sponsors, and members of the organizing committee whose dedication and enthusiasm made this edition possible. Their contributions helped create an inspiring event focused not only on scientific excellence, but also on the human impact of innovation.
As we look ahead, we are excited to continue building this international community and exploring the future of neurotechnology together. The ideas, discussions, and collaborations born during these three days will undoubtedly contribute to shaping the next generation of brain-machine technologies.
We look forward to welcoming you to the next edition of The Brain and The Chip!
